An installation ceremony was held for incoming officers of the Foothills Lions Club. Tyler Bray was elected as the club president for July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014. Bray has been an active member of the Foothills Lions Club for the past 10 years.
Caryl Ricks was elected to serve as the new club secretary. The club’s vice-president will be Tim Beer with Don Thomson as treasurer.
According to President Tyler Bray, “I am looking forward to leading various projects and continuing the Foothills Lions Club’s commitment to serving the communities in our trading area.”
Since the Club’s chartering in 1966, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community using both man-hours and monies. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to many desired organizations requiring help from the Foothills Lions Club. Currently, Foothills Lions Club is working on Black Diamond Lions campground remediation, working closely with CLERC (Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center) and working towards completion of the Lions Family Spray Park in Turner Valley in 2014.
The Foothills Lions Club has 41 members and meets on 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Turner Valley Legion hall. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
