In January, our club made the decision to support the “Dreams Take Flight” organization to allow two local children to have their “dream come true” and spend a day at Disneyland.
Last December, Jan Caveny and Julien DeSchutter, from the Calgary Branch of Dreams Take Flight, were guest of our club, showed a video, that pulled at all of our heartstrings and outlined the program to our club members. Leaving us with a request for a donation to help send other children from this area on next year’s trip.

This program exists solely because of volunteers and donations. The first flight out of Calgary took place in 1993 and since then over 3,000 deserving children from Southern Alberta alone have made the trip. Last year two children from Turner Valley were lucky enough to have been included.
“Dreams Take Flight Calgary has been taking deserving children with special needs from Southern Alberta to Disneyland since 1993. In 2018, our 26th year, we will be taking another 132 children to Disneyland for a day on November 14th. We raise our funding through corporate & private donations, charity golf tournaments and our annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans gala event.
With your support, we can bring some magic to some very deserving Southern Alberta children and make their dreams come true!”
The cost per child, per trip, is $1,300. A unanimous vote by club members made the decision to donate $2,600 to Dreams Take Flight Calgary.
